Ghosting Technique

Posted: 29/01/2011 in Uncategorized

Had a go at Dyans ghosting technique, here.  Used some Glimmermists, about five different colours covering the whole page, dried, then added some more coloured, sprayed with water and added a stencil/template or two.  I noticed that the effect worked better with Dyan’s own mists so what better excuse to go shopping!!!

Started my February Calendar page in my Art Journal Diary, got a few bits and pieces to put on I think but this is what I’ve done so far.  Started off with a mixture of three different pink acrylic paints, added abit of white, stamped with pink paint around the edges, spritzed with some Glimmermists then added the calendar squares.  Title done on word using a new font I found called Cul de Sac.

The ‘video’ page has been added and the first video is by Dyan Reavely showing a ghosting technique using her Dylusions sprays.

Background Pages

Here are a few pages I’ve started in my journal.  Been having fun trying out different techniques, will get round to finishing them with journalling etc soon!!  Click on each photo to find out more details.

The Beginning

These are the first art journal pages that I’ve ever done,  although I think they are terrible I’m keeping it in my book as its a reminder of how I started out and fingers crossed I will improve as I go along.    I started doing an art journal book along with my daughter Kimberley who is doing GCSE Art at school, her pages are great as she has alot more imagination than me but we both find it difficult to actually journal.  We love doing the background pages, getting the paints etc out and then get stuck in but overall we enjoy making a mess and using different types of paints, crayons, papers etc to create different effects.  This blog is about my journey into this art form and will keep it posted with any pages I complete, ideas and inspiration I find along the way.

First Pages

Welcome to my new blog!  This blog is going to be all about my journey into Art Journalling with photos and ideas and hopefully lots of inspiration.  A little about me:  I am a scrapbooker mainly, I started scrapping about seven-eight years ago and love it.  Then I ventured into abit of cardmaking, then some ATC’s and tags and eventually started experimenting with paints and  stamps and so an Art Journal appeared.
